-The Manipulation of Perceptive Spacial Scale-
Private Year : 2014 Type : Residential Location : Gyeonggi, Yangpyeong , Korea Design Team : Woo Hyoung Lee, Min Ha Seo, Young Gon Lee, Jae Young Lee, Byeong Jun Kim
Intended design concept pursues The Manipulation of Perceptive Spacial Scale in order to provide amplified experience in terms of spacial scale by providing strait visual openness to the outside in all directions within the small size space with satisfying programmatic requirements. The site has mostly clear views in all directions besides high mountains located on the south with casting deep shadow into the site.
Main building volume sways back deep in the site to secure maximum distance far from the mountains at south and lifted up to obtain higher position to have better views. Moreover. by hollowing solid mass into tube with south facing configuration, allows maximum natural lights and ventilation inside. and by manipulating spacial configurations coordinated with exterior facade penetration configuration, design provides maximum vista from interior space to outside scenary and landscape. By doing so, the proposed design challenges the ways of expanding perceptive spacial boundary with the heightened perception of spacial scale.
